Shawnee State University will host the South Central Ohio Regional Science Bowl IV at 9 a.m. on March 11.
This year’s exciting academic competition features more than 180 students from 38 high schools from Ross, Pike, Jackson and Scioto Counties that represent 22 school districts. Science Bowl IV will test students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics.
Science Bowl IV is the fourth annual edition and is presented by the United States Department of Energy (DOE). Scientist, engineers and professionals employed at DOE’s Portsmouth site in Piketon, Ohio volunteer their time to carry out the one-day regional event.
The winning team will be crowned regional champions of the South Central Ohio Region and will receive an all-expense paid trip, sponsored by DOE, to the National Science Bowl in Washington DC in April.
The National Science Bowl launched by the DOE in 1991. Since then, more than 250,000 students have participated.
The competition will be held in the West Ballroom in the University Center, the Advanced Technology Center and in the Flohr Lecture Hall of the Clark Memorial Library.
