The Shawnee State University Theatre Department presents Xanadu as part of the 2015-16 season at 7:30 p.m. on November 19-21 and December 3-5 in the Kahl Studio Theater of the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA).
The Tony nominated musical has all the parts of the original cult classic movie, the roller skating and Top 40 musical soundtrack by ELO and Olivia Newton John including “Magic,” “Evil Woman,” “Strange Magic,” “All Over the World,” and “Xanadu.”
Based on the 1980s movie, the musical Xanadu, features Kira, a Greek muse, who descends from Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California on a quest to inspire struggling artists to achieve their greatest artistic creation of all time. But just as Zeus is about to reward Kira for her efforts, her jealous sister schemes to have her fall in love with her mortal charge, Danny, and since muses are forbidden to fall in love with mortals it is sure to get Kira banished from Mount Olympus.
The musical comedy is appropriate for all ages.
Tickets are $3 for SSU students, $8 for seniors and SSU faculty and staff, and $10 for the general public.
