SSU will be offering a host of activities for students returning from Spring Break.
In order to celebrate the arrival of the upcoming spring season, Shawnee State University will be offering a host of activities for students returning from Spring Break as part of its annual Springfest week, which will stretch over the entire week of Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 20 and is put together by the Student Programming Board (SPB).
The first two days of Springfest will allow students to explore their artistic side
as the SPB will allow students to participate in “Airbrush Art and Caricatures”, which
will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. in each of
the Micklethwaite Lobbies at the University Center. As a part of this event, each
student is limited to one airbrush art item as well as one caricature per Shawnee
State University identification.
On Wednesday evening, the SPB will give SSU students the chance to “escape the cold” by hosting a “Beach Party” inside the confines of the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Warsaw Natatorium, which is at the far west end of the athletic center. This event will be followed up by a round of “Late Night Bingo” on Thursday evening at 10 P.M. inside the University Center’s Sodexo Ballroom, where all who participate will have a chance to win undisclosed prizes.
Finally, the SPB will cap off the week of Springfest 2015 by hosting its own comedy show, which will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts’ Shelby Grand Lobby and will feature three stars from the MTV show “Girl Code” in Nicole Byer, Alice Wutterland, and Jade Catta-Preta. The doors will open at 7 p.m, and the tickets, which are to be purchased at the McKinley Box Office, will be $10 for students and $20 for the general public. Students who wish to buy a pair of tickets can do so for $15. For more information regarding Springfest or each of the events, contact the Student Programming Board at (740) 351-3467.
