The Office of Student Career Development will host “Your Career Development Starts NOW.”
The Office of Student Career Development will host “Your Career Development Starts NOW, an event designed to prepare SSU students for post-graduate life, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 in Micklethwaite Room 215 of the University Center.
“Students should be thinking about career development from the time they begin as freshmen to their senior year as they approach graduation,” Nikki Karabinis, assistant director of the Office of Career Development at Shawnee State University, said. “The program is designed to give students the tools they need to enter the workforce.
According to Karabinis, “Your Career Development Starts NOW” focuses on the need to build a resume throughout college, the benefits of volunteerism and internships, and what employers look for in job candidates.
“Our key message is to start now,” Karabinis said. “Everything a student does throughout college, including the courses they choose, the grades they earn, internships and jobs they hold, and experiences inside and outside of the classroom, work together to make him or her stand out with potential employers. We want to help students develop plans early so they can begin to work toward the future careers that they want.”
