SSU’s chapter Tau Kappa Epsilon is a contender for the “Top TKE Chapter” award.
For the second time since 2012, Shawnee State University's chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity will be a strong contender for the coveted "Top TKE Chapter" award. As of April 4, SSU's Tau-Nu chapter is third in the nation.
Based on philanthropy, recruitment, overall grade point average and other factors, the award uses a ratio to include even smaller chapters like the one at Shawnee State, which gained 23 members this semester.
"Some universities have all-out recruiting chapters, others have all-out philanthropy chapters, and then others have straightforward academic chapters," Chapter President Cameron Gulley said. "Every chapter is different. There are 270 of them, and the best ones aren't the ones that focus on one category, but the diverse ones."
The Tau-Nu chapter was chartered in 1994 and has since grown into one of the largest and most successful Greek organizations at SSU in terms of membership, risk management, and philanthropy.
Additionally, TKE itself is the largest fraternity in North America, with 291 chapters and colonies and over 265,000 brothers nationwide.
