Multicultural Student Affairs will be putting on a series of events for Diversity Week March 24-28.
From March 24 through the 28th, Multicultural Student Affairs at Shawnee State University will be putting on a series of events for Diversity Week.
“Celebrating Diversity” kicks off the week on Monday, March 24. All throughout campus, various decorations will be up around campus symbolizing diversity. Also, students can engage in B.E.A.D., an activity in which they examine themselves, their lives, and the people they are surrounded by in light of several diversity categories.
Focused on LGBT diversity, Tuesday’s “Taste the Rainbow” event will educate students on the meaning of the rainbow and LGBT information with pencil, Skittles and bracelet giveaways.
On Wednesday, March 26, “Diversity Bingo” will give students the opportunity to see how much diversity is in a group. Students will go around the room and get people to sign their name under various descriptors that apply to them, with prizes. On Thursday, “Divers-U-Tee” will give students the opportunity to express their diversity through a tie-dye t-shirt.
On Friday, March 28, the Multicultural Affairs Coordinator Ciera Locke will be handing out orange ribbons to symbolize diversity and promote pride in multiculturalism.
All the events take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Center lobby, with the exception of “Diversity Bingo” and “Divers-U-Tee,” which will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the UC Lobby and from 12 to 3 p.m. on the Administration Annex Lawn.
