Governor John Kasich has appointed Francesca Hartop to the Shawnee State University Board of Trustees.
Governor John Kasich has appointed Portsmouth entrepreneur, Francesca Hartop, to the Shawnee State University Board of Trustees to serve a term beginning January 15, 2014 and ending June 30, 2022.
“It’s been exciting to watch Shawnee State University’s growth since 1999, when I joined this community,” Hartop said. “Over recent years, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know many students through internships and graduates who have worked with our company, and to become familiar with Shawnee State’s programs. The university’s continued success is critical to our region – and vice versa – our community’s success is critical to the university. I’m happy for the opportunity to be a part of the future of Shawnee State University and its continued impact on businesses and communities throughout the state.”
Hartop is co-founder and CEO of YEI Corporation which includes YEI Technology and YEI Healthcare, serving clients from across the United States and internationally. She is also owner of Garage Café and Port City Café and Pub in the downtown Portsmouth area. For her accomplishments in innovation and business development, Hartop was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013 by TechGROWTH Ohio, a public/private partnership administered by Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs.
“Francesca’s experience and commitment to the community and our future leaders benefit our students, university, and region,” Dr. Rita Rice Morris, SSU President, said. “We look forward to working closely with her over the next several years as we continue to expand educational opportunities for students and meet the workforce needs of our region and state.”
