All SSU students and local artists are encouraged to submit their work for the event.
The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts is calling all artists for entries for the Fifth Annual Vern Riffe After Dark event which will be held on Thurs., April 12.
All Shawnee State University students and local artists are encouraged to submit their work for the event. Artists will have the opportunity to showcase and sell their artwork at the After Dark event.
The VRCFA’s After Dark event is committed to create a network of artists and viewers in the SSU and Portsmouth community.
All applicants are asked to submit three samples of their work through image or link attachments in an email along with their completed application. The submitted pieces do not have to be the pieces for display on the night of the event.
The accepted art work will be displayed in area businesses that are interested in having creative works placed in their businesses for about three weeks prior to the After Dark Event.
“We showcased the art work in different local businesses last year, and we actually had one sell while it was still on display at a lawyer’s office,” said VRCFA Director Joe Patti. “It’s great to be able to contact that artist and tell them their artwork won’t be coming back for the event because it has already sold.”
Upon acceptance of work, a $20 participation fee will be due by April 6.
