After 28 years as an engineer and project manager in the aerospace industry, Carl Hilgarth began teaching at Shawnee State University. He uses his corporate experience to prepare his students to compete and excel in what he calls the “real world.”
He teaches his students to do what they love. For him, he enjoys building, tinkering, discovering, playing, and, in general, figuring out why things do or don’t work — all signs he looks for in the “heart of an engineer.”
At Shawnee State University, he says he has the opportunity to get to know his students and loves helping them find their passion. SSU's small faculty-to-student ratio means that every student receives personal attention. And that means dedicated professors like Carl know they are making a difference in your education.
At the center of everything we do at Shawnee State are the people who make this an outstanding place to give and receive education — our students, faculty, staff, families and friends.
