Paralegal Association


This is an association about helping each other achieve our goals and helping others in our community.  We have plans for upcoming activities for fun raisers and events that we hope to put into place within the next few months.  If you would like to be a part of a great bunch of people and have a lot of fun please come and join us.  It is an excellent way to meet new people and expand your opportunities.  You will learn new skills, expand the skills you already have, make new friends, and have a lot of fun.

Purpose: We, the students of Shawnee State University, in order to promote further education for the students in the area of legal assisting and law, and to provide opportunities for leadership and for discussion of law topics, do establish the Paralegal Association of Shawnee State University
Meeting time & place:  Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 PM in Kricker Conference Room.

-Any prospective regular member of the Association must have a grade point average of at least 2.00; if a freshman entering, have a high school grade point average of 2.00; and be either a full-time or part0time student of Shawnee State University.
-All members of the Association shall represent the Association to the bar, other legal assistants, other students, and other organizations; serve as committee chairpersons or committee members as appointed by officers; have power to vote in all matters pertaining to the business of the Association except otherwise provided; and have the power to propose new amendments on old acts of the Association.
-Regular meetings of the members of the Association shall be held monthly during Fall and Spring Semesters.  Meetings usually are held during weekdays at 5:00pm.  The days are rotated so as to try to accommodate the different scheduling needs of the members. 
-All acts of the Association may be subject to review, and veto by our Association's faculty advisor, Professor Karen S. Crummie, J.D.
-All acts of the Association shall be in compliance with all rules and regulations of the Shawnee State University and all applicable laws.
-Our current membership list consists of thirty members.  We are seeking to increase our membership and encourage all students who may be interested in joining our Association or who would like to find out more information about our Association to come to one of our meetings.  Notives about meeting times and location of the meetings will be posted around campus.  Please feel free to contact one of our officers with questions you may have concerning our Association.
