Teaching Licensure

Teaching Physics lab experiments

Shawnee State has four outstanding degrees in BS Natural Sciences with Teacher Licensure, Grades 7–12 that prepares its graduates for careers in teaching science. This degree is offered in conjunction with the Department of Teacher Education. Students are assigned a faculty adviser in both departments.

Students can choose either one of:

  • BS Natural Sciences; Earth, Life, or Physical Science with Adolescent to Young Adult (Grades 7-12) Licensure
  • BS Natural Sciences, Integrated Science with Adolescent to Young Adult (Grades 7-12) Licensure
    • This program combines extensive work in a number of science areas with a license to teach all science areas in grades 7-12. Because of this, completion may take longer than a standard degree or program.

Checklists and a sequence of courses for all four of these degrees can be found on the Teacher Education website.
