I’m the Director of Student Advising and Support Services in the College of Professional Studies. I facilitate the coordination of advising and support services in the college including recruitment, retention and development. This position is designed to be a second-layer of support for students within the college along with serving as a resource and liaison for faculty and staff.

I am the primary advisor for prospective nursing students and undecided students in the college. Being part of a student’s academic path is an honor and privilege. I’ve been blessed to have many mentors and guides in my life and I hope to serve as a mentor and guide to others.

Previously I held the position of chair for SSU's University Administrative Assembly (UAA) and serve as the president of the Ohio Academic Advising Association (OHAAA). The exciting journey at Shawnee State University began in February 2015.

Prior to SSU, I worked at Juniata College in the offices of Campus Ministry and Diversity Inclusion. I’m a native Pennsylvania, novice gardener, graphic designer, specialty coffee barista, Episcopalian, and lover of classic rock and indie music.

I’m an Academic Advisor in the College of Professional Studies and a Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the University. Our team serves as a second-layer of support for all students by providing various resources, being a liaison to faculty and staff, and ultimately, assisting them in building connections to their collegiate experience.

I am the primary advisor for prospective allied health sciences, Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS), physical therapist assistants (PTA), and occupational therapy assistants (OTA) students, as well as students on academic probation in the college.

I joined the Shawnee State University team in August 2017 – this being my first professional role! Prior to SSU, I attended Wright State University, as a first generation college student, earning my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in December 2014 and Masters of Education in April 2017.

During my graduate career, I served as a graduate assistant in the Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Ally (LGBTQA+) Affairs, gained experience in Title IX initiatives, and danced for the kids at our annual dance marathon event, Raiderthon.

I am a life-long learner, dog lover, and enjoy spending time with family and friends. My experience in higher education led me to mentors who inspire me to make a difference in the lives of students, just as they impacted mine. As M.J. Riggs stated, “We come to college not alone to prepare to make a living, but to learn to live a life.”

I'm the Health Sciences Admissions Coordinator in the College of Professional Studies. My main focus is to ensure that every health science programs applicant is well informed on all that Shawnee State has to offer. I am typically the first point of contact for most health science applicants.

While being the first point of contact for these programs, it has given me the opportunity to travel our great state and surrounding states and share the benefits and advantages of choosing a career within one of our accomplished programs. The programs within the health sciences area are very competitive. I process and score each health science application and work directly with department chairs and program leaders during the program selection. Being part of a student's educational and career path has been a true blessing. Day after day I am honored to witness the growth of each student.

Currently I am the member of the College of Professional Studies recruiting committee and I am an active member of SSU'S University Administrative Assembly. My journey at SSU started in 2015 when I served as an administrative assistant with the Allied Health Science Department. From there, I spent time as the Graduate Center Representative and the Administrative Assistant in the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Professions. As you can see all of my time at SSU has been spent within not only the College of Professional studies, but also within health sciences. I am a native to Scioto County, Ohio. I feel this has been a great attribute in the recruiting aspect of my position.
