Dental Hygiene

How is this outcome assessed?

1

The graduate will be knowledgeable in the natural and behavioral sciences which support dental hygiene.

1) National sub scores in the basic and dental hygiene sciences.
2) Exit surveys of dental hygiene graduates
3) Entrance and exit assessment evaluations
4) Dental Hygiene Alumni Surveys

The graduate will be able to provide complete dental hygiene treatment to include assessment of physical and oral conditions, analysis, dental hygiene diagnosis, the evaluation of patient outcomes and demonstrate preparedness for medical/dental emergencies. 

1) Dental Hygiene Employer Surveys.

2) Student Self-Assessments in various courses.

3) Patient treatment summaries of graduating  

     students.

4) Dental Hygiene Advisory reviews.
5) Clinical performance on regional or state licensing examinations

The graduate will continue in dental hygiene education for professional growth and participate in community service.

1) Review by Dental Hygiene Advisory

     Committee.

2) Undergraduate and graduate participation in  

     alumni activities and continuing education

     programs.

3) Evidence-based learning implementation in   

     all dental hygiene curriculum

The graduate will be well prepared to gain employment and successfully function as an ethical dental hygiene practitioner, and/or successfully pursue advanced study in a related field, and to advance in those chosen specialties.

Patients receiving treatment by the dental hygiene students will express overall satisfaction with the clinical services, business operations, and the endeavor to provide individualized care.

The treatment provided by the dental hygiene student will meet and/or exceed the expected standard of practice and be provided in an ethical, legal manner.

     assurance program

The graduate will develop the ability to critically analyze self, standards of care, and current research as a means of advancing dental hygiene knowledge and practice.    

1) Research papers, literature reviews and self-

    assessment of clinical skills.
