Student Learning Outcome

How is this outcome assessed?

1

·   Provide the student with an overview of hazardous waste concepts, programs, regulations, technologies and minimization strategies.

·   Students who complete this course will be able to perform those activities associated with contemporary management of hazardous wastes in the industrial setting.

2

·   Provide the student with a broad perspective of the solid waste technology field to include regulations, operating procedures, technologies and management strategies.

·   Students will be able to calculate all design parameters of collection systems.

·   Students will be able to assess the mass flow parameters of municipal settings.

·   Students will be able to select the proper mix of recycling, mass transformation and disposal options.

·   The student will be able to design and operate MSW systems.

3

·   To provide the student with all systems knowledge associated with water plant operations, technology design and maintenance.

·   Students will be able to operate water plants effectively, as evidenced by day-to-day successful water treatment operations.

·   Students will be able to perform all analytical testing, as evidenced by successful completion of testing protocols.

4

·   To provide the student with knowledge of all aspects of wastewater plant operations.

·   To prepare the student to successfully complete certification examinations for plant operations.

·   Students will be able to function as plant operators in standard wastewater facilities as evidenced by completing their daily work tasks.

5

·   To understand the design and operation of hazardous waste treatment technologies

·   To be able to select the technology that would best apply to a given environmental setting.

·   Students will be able to use characterization data to properly select treatment technologies.

·   Students will be able to assess the mass flow requirements of a given environmental setting.

·   Students will be able to implement field tests of environmental treatment technologies.

1.  Column 3, "How is this outcome assessed?" may be completed if the information is available.  A fourth column will be added next year, "What are the results of the assessment of this learning outcome?"
