Career and Salary Projections
Career Outlook
- Growth is projected to increase by 46%
through the year 2012 and PTA's will play an important role in
treatment of individuals with disabilities or functional
impairments, according to the US Dept. of Labor.
- Long term growth in demand for PTA's and aides will continue for
the
"baby boomer" generation, as they age and become more vulnerable to
degenerative or chronically debilitating conditions.
- The mainstays of care and intervention are forecasted to be
within stroke and cardiac rehabilitative care.
- Advances in medical technology will enable more trauma victims
to survive, creating or sustaining the demand for spinal cord and
head injury intervention.
- Three consecutive, regional surveys conducted every 2 years by the PTA Program
of clinical sites that SSU affiliates with, revealed that 71% of
clinics responding plan to hire 1-4 more PTA's within the next 2-3
years. The sampling response rates were approximately 35% for each
survey.

Salary
- For 2007, SSU graduates 18 months after graduation reported a
salary Range
of
$33,500-45,000.
