Evidence
As you consider your issue or research it,
develop reasons supported by varied, sound evidence that your
particular audience will find persuasive.

Whenever you make a
claim
that your target audience may question, back
it up with specific and appropriate evidence. Chapter 13, section
c (pages 88-89) of The Longman Concise Companion mentions five
types of evidence that can be useful in writing papers:
- Details,
- Comparisons,
- Quotations and ideas from authorities,
- Examples, and
- Logical links.
