Minor in English and Linguistics

This minor requires you to complete 15 credit hours of English and linguistics.  Courses emphasize the English language; however, other languages and language processes are covered primarily from a linguistics perspective.  The nine credits that are mandatory deal with introductory aspects of language and cover different core areas of the English language and language in general.

English and Linguistics Requirements

The following three courses are required (9 Credit Hours)
LING 3360 Introduction to Language & Linguistics
LING 3362 Patterns of English
LING 3365 History of English
Select two courses (6 credit hours) from the following list. 
Students may select either GEOG 2201 or ANTH 2250, but not both since they do not exclusively deal with language.
ANTH 2250 Principles of Cultural Anthropology OR
GEOG 2201 Cultural Geography
LING 4452 Language Acquisition
LING 4455 English Language in Society
LING 4490 Linguistics Seminar
LING 4999 Special Topics in Linguistics
