Cub Camp Courses + Schedule

Register for 2018 Cub Camp & Cub Academy 

Below are the choices and schedule for Cub Camp sessions.  Below the options are course descriptions.

A latchkey service will be offered from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm for an additional fee of $40 for the duration of the camp.


Students who register will not select individual sessions. The teacher will stay with these students for the entire day, and their group will have lunch separate from the older Cub Camp members.  

Kindergarten Cub Camp offers a variety of activities for students; including themes in art, music, manners, leadership, reading, math and much more.

Course Descriptions

Kindergarten Cub Camp: This class will offer a variety of activities for students, including themes in art, music, exercise, manners, leadership, reading, math, and much, much more. This session is sure to be a hit for all kindergarten students! Students who register for this class will NOT select from other sessions. Kindergarten Cub Camp is taught by experienced kindergarten teachers who will stay with the kindergarteners for the entire day. They will also have lunch separate from the older Cub Camp members.

Art (Grades: 3-4): Students will learn to paint with non-conventional objects to create paintings that you will want to display in your house.  You will be amazed what talents you have, even if you didn't know it!

Art (Grades 5-6): Always wanted to be a good artist but didn't think you had it in you?  Wrong!  In this class you will learn how to bring out your hidden talents and create beautiful paintings that you will be proud of.  No art experience needed, just show up with a good attitude and ready for fun.

American Girl Doll (Grades 1-2, 3-4): The American Girl Doll class will explore the lives of American girl dolls including the 2018 doll of the year with crafts, activities, and fun that will help your child learn more about the dolls, culture, and life.

Basketball (Grades 1-6): Let an experienced coach teach you the basics of basketball including rules of the game, practice drills, exercise, rebounding, shooting techniques, and good sportsmanship.

Crafting and DIY Fun (Grades 1-6): Learning how to make different crafts is something that will stick with you the rest of your life. Learn how to make playdough, repurpose materials to make something new, and learn how to make things with your hands and imagination.

Creative Cupcakes (Grades 1-2, 3-4): Put your talents to use creating cream filled cupcakes, while learning the basics of making and decorating cupcakes. You and your family are sure to LOVE eating your creations!

Creative Writing (Grades 5-6): Do you have a story you want to tell? In this class, we will be thinking and writing creatively though a variety of writing activities, such as flash fiction and haiku. 

Dance, Dance, Dance (Grades 1-6): Never miss a chance to dance! Come learn various styles of dance while learning rhythm, movement, and improving balance.  

Drawing Basics (Grades 3-4): Students will learn basic elements of design while also learning to draw still life, landscape, and human figures (fully clothed) using media such as pencil and charcoal.

Exploring Egypt (Grades 5-6): Students will become archaeologists and explore the culture of Ancient Egypt. Mummies, tombs, and hieroglyphs will be just a few of the topics discussed while taking a look back into the culture of one of the oldest civilizations on Earth.

Fantastic Fairytales (Grades 1-2): Fee Fi Fo Fum! Come and learn about fairytales and folklore. Let’s take a journey to all of these enchanting places!

General Music (Grades 3-4): Learn how musicians do what they do and experience music in its many forms.

Geology Rocks! (Grades 3-4): Students will explore rocks and minerals including several stations to investigate the different types and stages of rocks.  Also, students will interact with their birthstones.

Geometry (Grades 3-4): Who invented the Round Table? Sir Cumference! Come learn about shapes, areas, and terminology all while participating in fun activities!  

Getting Energized! (Grades 3-4): Students will discover the different types of energy as they explore stations including heat, light, sound, and wind energy.  Also, students will be creating a STEM project to demonstrate the power of energy.   

Greek Mythology (Grades 5-6): Students will get an introduction into Greek Mythology using hands on activities. Students will look into the Greek gods and goddesses and some of the myths that go along with their culture. 

Journaling (Grades 3-4): Time to reflect! Learn how to organize and write down everything in your very own journal. This will help with laying out a calendar, goals, to do lists, bucket lists, and writing down fun journal prompts.

Karate (Grades 1-6): Join Victoria Book, Third Degree Black Belt and Junior Olympian to learn the basics of Karate.  

Let’s Create a Book (Grades 1-2): Never judge a book by its cover. Come create and illustrate your very own book.

Let’s Make Dough (Grades 3-6): Come learn how to make pizza doughs and breads! Find out what makes dough rise.

Matherpieces (Grades 5-6): Refining math skills in a fun and interactive environment while doing art.  

Mo Books (Grades 1-2): “There is a bird on your head, Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus! and Knuffle Bunny” are just a few of the books that will be covered. Students will read books and have fun activities based on the author Mo Willems.

Music Builders (Grades 3-4): Learn how to make your own completely playable musical instruments!

Music Theory (Grades 5-6): Find out how music is written and created, and use that knowledge to write your own piece!

Ohio History (Grades 1-2): Students will become engaged through interactively learning all about Ohio’s presidents, inventors, to native American tribes!

Owl Be Back! (Grades 5-6): Investigations and instruction on owl pellet dissection and owl food web investigations.

Painting (Grades 1-2, 3-4): This class will explore the art of painting with both tempera and watercolor paints. Students will learn how to correctly mix and apply the medium to multiple surfaces.

Readers Theater (Grades 1-2): Students will watch “The Three Little Pigs” come to life as they perform the play themselves! Students will learn about tone, inflection, team work, and much more through their reader’s theater experience!

Rock On! (Grades 5-6): Investigations and instruction on the Rock Cycle.  Students will be able to identify the three main types of rocks, Igneous, Metamorphic, and Sedimentary.  The students will create their own geode, pet rock, and cristal structures.

Rhythm Explorers (Grades 5-6): Experience rhythms and drumming styles from all over the world!

Soccer (Grades 1-6): Put your talents to the test and come out to the Cub Camp Soccer Class! Our soccer class will teach your children how to be a good teammate, work in groups, and develop their soccer skills. We hope our curriculum builds confidence and promotes development in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. We look forward to having fun with your kids!

Shark Week (Grades 1-2):  Fish are friends, not food. Come learn about the sharks' habitat, diet and fun facts about sharks. 

Technology Class (Grades 3-6): Ever wonder how a computer actually works? Want to learn the basic computer skills like photo editing and video editing? Want to see what makes your video games tick? Come and try out our Technology Class and you can see what makes our technology work.

Tennis Time (Grades 3-6): Tennis anyone? Explore the game of tennis by learning the basics. Learn how to hit forehands, backhands, lobs, volleys, and serves! Bring your own racket and participate in fun drills and mini-tournaments!

Track and Field (Grades 1-6): Are you interested in running? Learn the basics of track and field in sprints, distance, hurdles, jumps, passing the baton, and proper conditioning. A track meet will be held on the last day.

Video Editing and Production (Grades 3-6): Ever wonder how movies are made? In this course we will cover he basics of videoing, editing, enhancing, and producing movies. You will even be able to take home a DVD of your own, capturing your Cub Camp experience!

Volleyball (Grades 3-6): Learn the basic skills of volleyball: passing, serving, setting and attacking. This class will have you ready to play volleyball on the court or in your backyard!     

Wacky Science (Grades 1-2): Kids will learn ways to help the environment by using recycled material and a little science magic!  Making messes is a lot of fun, especially when it is all about science and benefits animals and nature.  Some prepared for some science magic fun!
