New Student Orientation

Your orientation sessions are designed to help you become successful at SSU and encourage you to become an active participant in your education.

Register for orientation here.

Trained student orientation leaders and staff are on hand to help you adjust to all aspects of college life and to assist you with any concerns that you may have. Prior to the day-long session, you are required to take your placement exam. Having your placement exam completed prior to orientation allows us to help you register for classes on your orientation day.

Click here for more information concerning the placement process and placement test schedule.

The Placement test will not be given on the orientation dates.  If a student has not taken the ACT, SAT or placement, then they cannot attend an orientation until testing is completed.

Remote testing is available here for students living more than 50 miles from campus.

Please contact Dale Taylor at (740) 351-3592 to schedule remote COMPASS placement testing.
